Which way does the arrow point when the tension rod bushing are pressed in? The book shows towards the rod. My existing bushing are installed with the arrow pointing away from the rod. The appear to be OEM

hey, this is a debate i haven't seen for a while!!

you are completly correct.now, what does it mean---who knows? EVRY one i've seen installed is with the arrow away, including pre-fit replacements when you buy the whole rod assy.

i'm going to do this next weekend, and i will put the arrows OUT (contrary to the fsm picture).

Since acceleration stress [<0.5G] is less than half panic braking stress [0.9 G] but one [most] accelerate more than panic brake per mile month year?

Manybe someone could take the time to measure the stiffness in each direction?

My original factory ones had the arrow facing forward... I think the FSM pics are wrong.

Nissan uses the forward pointing arrow on several things, so I pointed their replacements forward.

The tension rod bushings that I got from Joe are 54476-35F20 which are a slightly smaller diameter than the 54476-66U20 bushings which are installed in my tension rods.

What does the 54476-66U20 belong to? Is this the wrong tension rod for my car?

Here is the funny part.

So I stopped by the local Infiniti dealer with tension rod in hand. The parts person explained to me that the bushings are not available separately from the tension rod as it is impossible to replace a silicon filled bushing. Then I explained how the bushing I have are too small to.......

Heath is correct. Every other part with a possible orientation has the arrow pointing forward. They came from the factory installed with the arrow pointing forward.

The FSM is incorrect, like it (1990 only?) was on jacking the transmission.

So, to resurrect an old thread, do not trust the FSM pic of the arrow facing down the rod? They don't face forward, they face down the length of the rod. I'm not one to not trust the FSM - any thoughts on this for the last 3 years?
