happened to grab this picture today of at least ten guys (in view) working on one tree. they had full pro equipment for this job. if you look carefully there isnt a chainsaw in sight. makes you wonder where the other 2to3 guys are were running the saws. :ohno: for a total of 12 plus men possibly . with all the trucks, guys and equipment you are looking at over 2000.00 an hour for these guys working on one job. note the guys sitting and with hands in their pockets. :bs:

they werent to happy when they saw me taking a pic :lolling:

this is one small example of hard earned tax money that the people of the town spend .

Maybe there were complications in falling the tree? Maybe it was a reasonable price? Maybe it wasn't the persons money they were spending?

Orrr...it's the real life sequel to Ocean's 11, and they are about to rob a nearby casino.

The county tree felling services around here don't pay their guys squat and tend to hire ex-cons, parolees and illegals, so I'm not sure where you're getting $2K from...

But a professional service took down a tulip poplar in our neighbor's yard a few years ago for $3K, but that was mostly because the tree was almost 120 ft tall and took three days to get down...

You get paid big working trees, I know a few guys that tell me all about it. The guy that takes calls and sets appointments FROM HOME, is getting paid $1000+ a week. I would imagine a tree like that being somewhere around $1500 from them.

these guys are deffinatly not parolees or illegals. there are hired and under contract with the town or state.

lets just say that 10 guys at an average of 35 bucks an hour, add the cost of trucks, insurance , fuel, 401k benefits, health insurance , retirement and more per guy, it adds up quick. :werd:

A union worker in NY doing outdoor construction (i think its local 75) will get $38 an hour and can work 7 days a week... They get 1.5x time on saturday and 2x on sunday... Not a bad way to make $304 a weekday, $456 on a saturday and $608 on a sunday! For ripping up parking lots etc..
They get a pension too!

That's more than double what I was making to run a multimillion dollar facility, but sure, that's "fair." This country's failure is certain.

New York, NY is 108.9% more expensive to live in than Lawrence, KS.
You would need to make $104,451 in New York, NY compared to $50,000 in Lawrence, KS to maintain the same standard of living.
http://www.areavibes.com/cost-of-living ... +york,+ny/

So, let's say they work 40/wk at $38/hr, that's roughly $79k, or around $38k in Lawrence. I wouldn't do outside construction for $38k/yr at my age...maybe if I was a decade younger.

Sure you could work more than 40hr/wk, but who wants to do that? Just get a better paying job so you can work less and spend more time enjoying life.

You and me both. It doesn't surprise me. About 15 years ago, I remember reading an article about union worker wages. Janitors at GM were making $27 / hr to sweep the floor.
