looking on ebay for M's, i came across a real low price Q...then i noticed another...and another...

these cars are going for about 3K cheaper than an M with the same mileage.

can anyone explain this? and please dont say demand, because i rarely see these as well as i see M's, if anything, i see more of these.

any major difference between the two? correct me if im wrong but these are some i see

-stock navi-more speakers-backup camera-window screen-rear seat electronics?

also, what type of headlight technology does the Q have?

man after listing all those....im soo tempted.

but yea...this is Nissans flagship and yet it is more depreciated than the M's are.

Hello, While the M and Q share much DNA, there is quite a bit that makes them different. The Q has more features not to mention a much roomier back seat. You are correct about the ability to have a back up camera in the Q only with the nav package though. The Navigation was an option for both cars though. I think more Q's were optioned with it. Only Q's equipped with the premium package had the controls in the back seat along with rear reclining seats and sunshades. I think the shades could be optioned individually. The headlights on the Q can keep listless ships off the rocks. They were called the most powerful headlights ever equipped on a car. I suppose it comes down to preference. The Q's styling is polarizing to put it kindly. If you do not mind the styling and can get it cheaper seems like a no brainer. Given how much more expensive Q's were off the rip I am suprised to hear they are going for less. Both cars represent amazing value so you cannot go wrong. I did not even consider the Q45 myself. I suppose I am on the other pole in regards to the styling of the Q.CheersMark

I have read lots of posts about the early F50 Qs and I would pass on a 02-03s. 04 and newer I would definitely jump on for the right price, actually probably next year I will start looking for one.

whats the difference on the 04?

with the styling...its classy, but a lil out of my taste, still love the fact no one drives it around though. and i can also have it potential for a VIP look.

i think itll come down to gas mileage and car performance? because even as i love luxury very much. i dont know about the sportiness of this car.

whats the gas mileage on these babies?

man after going to a dealership to check out a fully loaded Q... it makes the M feel like a civic.

im really torn on which car to get.

main points are:

M:good-elegant beauty on outsidebad-not as luxurious on inside

Q:good-interior, flagship quality. rear seats have heat, moves foward and reclines, rear center console has many switches and buttons. backup camerabad-little slower, exterior looks like an american car =/

Hello,While I have never heard the M compared to a Civic, it seems like you have your answer between the two. Hell I just wish there was one billionth of the aftermarket available to the real Civic, not my wannabe Civic.Off to get neon running lights and a big, big mufler.Mark

i dont think u r right about it being cheaper.

When i went car shopping the beginning of this year (assuming u get an 03) most Qs i saw were 23-25K and most Ms were 18-22K, Although it is not a big deal, i felt there were pros and cons to both and the couple grand in savings is nice.

Too me the 05 Q is the best looking one of all!!! The back is almost the exact same shape as the new M...check for yourself the 02-04 have different rear tailights which are disgusting too me!! I think they have a body kit for the Q that is not as expensive as getting one for the M.....I am either going for a used 05 Q this or wait and get a 06 M45 next year....i know the 05 Q will be really a better value

05-06 tail and grill is nicer, but way too high in price, compared to the 02-04.

the M is very luxury but after sitting in a premium package Q. it makes any car feel...iono the word. not wanted?

Greetings, I must admit after reading your impressions on the F50 I checked out a few Q's. I gotta say they are quite nice inside. Especially with the contrasting piping on the seats. The rear seat is cavernous compared to my M. I agree the 05+ would be the way to go. Especially the sport package with the Enkei OEM 19's. That being said, I still wouldn't switch. To be honest, one of my good friends has offered me $27,000 for mine. I am tempted. I just do not think I could find anything close that has a legit warranty.(Transferrable, good till 2011) The Q's I would want all are listed for 40k or so. For that money I would buy a Gen.2 M. CheersMark

yea, with the Q i think id have less fun driving, but feel more comfortable. its weird because everytime i think about a cars interior, i imagine coming back at night from snowboarding and my body is cold and hands and feet are numb and i put myself in the position in that car. i think the Q would be better after boarding and all. relaxing.

but for most things else, i would go with the M. its a real hard choice, i think whatever comes by first wins.

its hard to find a black on black or grey on black with the premium package, so ill see.

thanks for replys man.

since there are no difference in powerplant or issues with this car, im have to make this decision on my own and see what i really prefer more. make ill get both =p...in 10 years

Yes, you will not be able to get a warranty at that high mileage.

are the electronics known to be faulty at high mileage. are repairs for the electronics costly?

Hello, I would say the most expensive things to deal with would be the nav system and probably the intelligent cruise control. Thus, if you avoid the tech package you should at least lessen your chance of mega expensive repair. I have heard to replace the nav costs about $5000.00 to fully replace. Given high mileage 03's seem to go around 15-18k, I can see why this might be tempting. Though I would never touch it with a ten foot pole, there is an 04' on autotrader with a rebuilt title that is going for a song. The car has less than 20,000 miles and is going for 15 I think.Good luck in your searchMark

That would be an M sir. I just looked and it seems to have sold. Here is one: AT Car ID: AT-D6CA8FB. They are asking 17,xxx with 86,000 miles. This one seems to have a clean title. With relatively low mileage 03's going for only a few thousand more, I would sell plasma to get one with a warranty if it came down to that. I do however think having the 6-disc in the dash makes the 04' M's worth looking out for if you can find one in your range.Flip the TL and turn to the torque side. I did.CheersMark

yea i never got why they switch between putting the changer outside and inside the compartment. i prefer the tape inside since i play an mp3 via tape, so then itll be hidden.

man the Q is such an ugly car on the outside. but it makes up for it on the interior. it makes the LS430 look like an accord.

still tempted since im seeing many going under 14K

The only thing about the outside of the Q that I dont like is the wheels. It is such a bubbly looking car and the 18s do not do it justice by any means. This car NEEDS 20's minimum and with a massive amount of lip, I think!Anyway I found this one on Ebay with no reserve and decent mileage.

The only problem I see with it is it isn't a Sport model.

Recently bought a 2002 Q45 Sport and I love it.
