Well guys, I bought a top and back window, but I just don't have the time nor the money to install it for the mean time. Now that I just blew my motor in my Ae86, I'm going to need a car to drive.

Well I finally found something that I can use as a temporary backwindow. I found a pretty clear, but not too thick clear plastic piece. Its a roll of something, like for vinyl window or something. I forgot what it is used for, but I found it at ACE hardware.

But the real question is, what is the best thing I can use to have this plastic thing to stick with my targa top??? I tried using ducktape and a trashbag (man that is getto but it stops water from gettin in for the mean time) to cover up my back window, but the ducktape can only stay on there for so long, or long enough until it stops sticking.

If anyone has any idea like contact glue or what ever please list your ideas, any kind of help would be nice.

Thanks,Addum

just install the window it should only take about 1 hour. the only tools you need are a socket set to remove the bar that holds the top. a staple gun to secure the top and a razor blade to cut extra material. It's not hard at all, then you can install your top later.

I really want to see some pictures or a detailed write up of this, cause my rear window sucks.

me too, mine was horribly faded then I went to put my skis in the car (diagonally across back seats ) and tapped the rear window when it was like 5 below out and it split right down the middle.

was the $265 just labor or for parts and installation? Either way, I was quoted $250 just for labor...

Where did you get it done?

I was just logining on to post about this and saw this thread.

I was waiting till the weather gets A little warmer to start taking mine apart to see if I could customize something.

I stitched some velcro to a piece of clear vinyl from walmart and then stapled some velcro in around the window frame"if I had been more careful I think it would have worked better, or if I'd sewn the velcro in to the top (I can't sew and my sewing machine wasn't up to the task) but it worked alright... I'm gonna seal it up with some weatherstrip adhesive for now though and hopefully buy a new (tan) top off ebay soon and see if I can get it done. a guy here in houston said a shop was charging $200 to get it installed, I'd gladly pay that.
