Does anyone know how to temporarily disable the G37. I have someone who has the other key and they take the car whenever they feel like it. I want to be able to disable it without causing any problems. Any kind of help would be great. Thanks!

Is the G-37 your car? Why would someone else have your key to begin with??? Why aren't you asking them for "your" key if the car is really yours???? Does your car have a breathalizer controlled start function attached to it or is the car a repo car??? Seems like some sort of unusual situation and fishy thing goin on here. if the law has your car or if you are under some sort of order or restraint from your car, then anyone helping you to demobilize your car would technically be committing a crime, on your behalf, whether they know it or not.

Heres a novel idea... don't give your keys to anyone who is not a rightful owner to the car. If they take the car/keys without your permission then that is what is known as grand theft auto... a felony in most states. I would not go to the extent of disabling the vehichle... I would PERMANENTLY disable the individual who took my car. If they are legal co-owners of the vehichle then it is a civil matter that needs to be handled responsibly, but if they have no legal rights to the car, then you should demand your key back or contact the proper authorities.

You'd probably have to take it to the dealer to have the whole thing reprogrammed with a new code. Not sure if that's possible, but it's the only solution I can think of other than getting your keys back.

Why does someone else have your keys? Get them back, now! haha

You can't pop the hood and disconnect the battery while you're parked because you yourself won't be able to get back in due to the automatic window roll down.

Yea going back to the dealership is the only way I see possible. I just did a remote start in one the other day, and trying to manually stop something that has like 12 sensors of that key would be almost impossible, you'd most likely mess up the car really bad. Cause the only other way would be to get the key back.

Just disable their key. Then when they complain, ask them for it so you can "deal" with it and don't give it back!!!

Welcome to NICO

If this is a martial issue, give him the car and take your shoes & everything else and move on.

You'll both be much happier?

You have to take it to the dealer and get it reprogramed to disable the other keyfob. They can reprogram it later if needed to be able to use it.

Just to clarify it. You only can do this if you are the owner of the car. Otherwise you can get a hefty charge. Since it would be theft or some sort of.

Also be ready most people when they think they have access to their stuff and it is taken away can get angry and may damage the car.

you may want to take the car in a safe spot.

Since we don't know the story behind it that is all I can offer.

Hope it helps.

take the battery out of the one you don't use and he will think it is busted and give it back to you. Then put the battery back in and drive away for good!

How would she doe that? She doesn't have the keys. If she had the keys, the other person wouldn't be driving it whenever they feel.

How mechanically inclined are you?

You can open the hood, and pull one of the main fuses. Look for the fuse that powers the fuel pump, or ignition. Keep the fuse with you. This is probably your best option.

You will have a CEL (check engine light) after you do this, if they try to start the car. This will definitely disable the car, with no ill known effects. The CEL will either go off on it's own, or may have to be cleared by the dealership or Autozone.

You can also make an attempt to start the car with the "Wallet" key, and after a few attempts, it will turn on the Vehicle Immobilizer system. If whomever it is that has the other key, has a brain and internet access, they can still get the procedure to start the car. But that will definitely disable the car temporarily. This will be a PITA to get the car started and running again. It is designed to immobilize that car from a thief.

Good luck trying to sell an 08 with 10,500 miles for $35,500! You can buy a brand new one with < 5 miles for just as much!

I don't know if it is avaiable in the USA, but here we have such anti-thief clubs, that look like: ]---[ and then you need to put it on the wheel and make it ]----------[ and it won't let the wheel turn, because of the windshield.
