i own a 2008 Rogue SL and for the past year ive been trying to figure out how to get the temperature on my dashboard. Do i just assume my car isnt equipped with it? i would be pissed cause i payed $20,000 for it and the least i can get is a thermometer. Is there a button i have to push or something? Its pissing me off now thank you!

A little more info would be great, especially in regards to what kind of temperature reading you are trying to attain.
If you want the outside temperature it should have it in the instrument cluster. On top of the orange circle... 71*F here:

If you want the inside temperature of the cabin, then there is none available.
If you want the engine temp, once again its not available other than the bars that go up.

You sure you have an SL??
i know for the Rogue S that the cluster didn't have this option...also maybe others can chime in but I think this may have been an option associated with a particular package

Yeah doesn't look like you have an SL.

The quick reference guide on Page 10 says "if so equipped"

You can also look at the Owners Manual starting at Page 2-2

If yours is an SL and it doesn't show it maybe the previous owner switched out a bad instrument panel and replaced it incorrectly with an S model??

I have a 2008 Rogue SL, and do NOT have outside temp, it was not available on the SL trim level in 2008.

I believe you had to purchase the Premium package to get some of these little upgrades in 2008.

nissan did a stupid thing early on with the rogue. SL was NOT the fully loaded package. SL simply meant awd, xenons, sunroof, spoiler, the SL rims, etc.
you had to get the leather package in order to get the temp gauge, heated seats, XM, etc. later on they made the SL = FULLY LOADED.

i have the 2008 SL WITH leather package. its fully loaded, with everything.

I m glad Nissan decided to add the small things such as outside temp and cargo light to the base S in later models.

nissan got some flack from dealers, when they first came out with the rogue.
some things just shouldn't be 'options' anymore. car designers from every company need to understand that buyers now a days are more cash strapped and are choosing fully loaded used cars over brand new basic low end models. A car manufacturer makes nothing on someone picking up a used car. the dealer makes all the profit on that deal.

people travel and drive their cars further and further every year. more and more gadgets are becoming everyday items (ipods, smarter cellphones, self installed car-puters, usb powered devices, internet streaming radio via cellphones, etc) and the people demand that those items are able to be easily integrated into the vehicle. furthermore, people are less and less mechanically inclined as generations go on, so installing a light in the trunk area is a NASA project for many people now a days - compared to the days when dads on Sundays brought their sons to 'kick the tires' and change the oil and tinker around. now a days people are more and more blue-collar reliant and less self-sufficient, so that means buying a car that suites your needs from day 1.

i remember about 8 years ago, when the THEN new Honda CRV model came out, the top of the line with leather package didnt offer power seats. all the women were turned off by that instantly, and moved on. honda came back and changed the game plan with the driver's seat being a 10-Way power adjustment. It happens. you live & learn.

and just another quick note, the Canadian and US models were and still are slightly different - check out the glossary for the comparision of differeces. My Canadian SL is FWD, but I have heated cloth seats which was a pretty significant option in 2008 and actually still is for certain manufacturers, namely Toyota who puts very few options on their lower trim models even today.

Well, depending on where in Canada, it gets hella colder there. When I used to go to Winnipeg, I noticed that lots of public parking lots had plugs for each parking space, presumably so you could plug in your block heater. Even McDonlad's have them.

i think its a little sad that factories can't put the little things in cars. Like come on, a thermometer?

its not that simple mate: a $10 thermometer + w/e extra programming for the dash to accept & understand the signal (lets say that with the install of it at the factory) it comes out to $25 done & said per car. X 400,000cars = $10,000,000. you want nissan to eat that? ya right. what normally operated company "eats" anything (unless its a donation of sorts)?

they would have passed onto the consumer, and lost the numbers race. it would take the rogue "s" from 22.550 into $22,575. idk about you, but 550 looks a lot more appealing than 575. the "7" makes the price seem closer to turning 575 into a 600.

its not only about manufacturing costs, but also about advertising and creating appealing numbers that will subconsciously make people watching commercials or reading an add say: "oh thats not too bad!"
