when swapping my engine and cooling system, I found the short metal pipe that is connected to the lower radiator hoses was corroded. I wouldn't need it except that the temperature sensor screws into it. Any suggestions other than a new OEM part. I went to the junkyard and couldn't find anything similar, even though there were 240sx with the hoses, none had this pipe.thanks, chad

Was the engine an auto? If so the part is not needed since its not the temp sensor you think it is. I have the same mid pipe on mine half way up the lower radiator hose, but all the manual SR's I have seen do not come with that sensor.

It's a manual. I dont see anywhere else where there would be a temperature sensor. Is there anothe sensor I'm missing?

Hey whats going on. I too have an SR20 in KC. Maybe we can meet up and chat about our rides sometime. My car runs great but I still have little issues here and there.

Hey did you even get an answer to this? I too am wondering WTF this sensor is. I never see it in anyone else car.

Looks like a water temp sensor to me.

If Im not mistaken, there should be two sensors on the water neck connected to the lower rad hose.

One is a temp switch for your gauge the other (bigger) is the water temp sensor that your ECU uses.

Water temp sensor for ECU is the same as SE-R

Water temp switch for your gauge is your car dependant. so if your car is 96 240sx get one for 96 240sx.

the temp sensor on the lower hose is not needed for the sr b/c its trmp sensors are on the intake manifold
