Temperature Gauge Jumping around

Last night I was driving my 91 240sx. I noticed that the temp gauge was jumping from normal down to the Cold side. It never jumped to the hot side. It would stop jumping when I pressed the clutch, but as soon as I got back on the gas, It starts jumping again.

Any help is appreciated

Wire connection at the temp sending unit is loose/bad.
