My needle creeps past half while hitting the fast lane,yet in city traffic stays in the middle.New clutch,flush,sensors,therm,bottom cover in place,fresh oil n tranns fluid..For the second time since owning her I hear the small fans running,first was when i drove to Texas.Small fans shut off in park if I rev engine.

Try burping the cooling system. There may be air in the system and you are foaming it up under sustained RPMs on the highway. Total shot in the dark, but something to try.

Yeah that can't hurt, be sure you turn the heat up all the way for a little bit to circulate some coolant through the heater core.. Otherwise you're probably looking at a radiator issue. You could also be running into an issue of inadequate flow past the radiator, maybe the space between the radiator and condensor is filled with garbage?

Still, you'd think that it would also affect the low-speed cooling...

I went through this problem for a year and it ended up being:

1. T-stat was stuck but not in the fully open position and
2. Clogged radiator. Bought a replacement with metal end tanks at radiatorbarn.com
