Well, ive tried cleaning the harness and replacing the small sensor with one from another car, but still doesnt work.It just doesnt move at all. I had my dash all apart to see if there are any loose connectors or anything, nothing looks odd.

2 of my 240's have this problem so it MUST be common, any ideas?

Note: my HUD speedo doesnt work either but EVERYTHING else does work on the cluster(lights/odo/gas)

ThanksThomas

did you do the single wire temp sensor or the 2 wire sensor? The single wire is for the gauge. It has a black connector on it. If you find that sensor turn your key to the on position and ground that single wire to the manifold. you gauge should go full hot. when not plugged in and disconnected it should read full cold. If it does this your wiring and you gauge is ok.Then it has to be the sensor

the wind speed off the fan is effecting it. when your rps rise the windspeed increases blowing on the sensor making it break contact with the sensor. my guess is the lug on the sensor is loose. replace the sensor.

*thread revival*

i am finally getting around to actually getting this fixed, and i realized that i dont' think it is the windspeed from my fan since i don't have a mechanical fan, but now instead of just moving with my RPMs, it occasionaly just wiggs out and starts bouncing all over the place, and sometimes it moves with my engine RPMS

also, is this the water temp or engine temp gauge
