temp gauge?

Ive been drving my car for about 2 days and sometimes the temp gauge will jump up to hot, its only done it about 3 times, 20 sec later and it will go back down to normal....I think my thermostat is sticking, so im going to replace it. any ideas?

Sounds like a air pocket in cooling system..bleed the system..One stupid quick way leave radiator cap off, heater on full, start car, top off radiator with water/antifreeze..let it settle and blurp over. (Ideal to jack up front of car a bit, if you can't you can shake the front end up/down to help air to rise to top.)Things to check after..-Leaky waterpump from weap hole/hoses for small leaks. -Coolant temp sensor if gauge still doesn't work properly

You might also want t replace your radiator cap and check the hoses. Good luck!
