I have an s14 w' a 180 sx sr20 blacktop.

My stock temp gauge reads to over 3/4 high, and sometimes higher on hot days. On cold days it fluxuates from high to med.

I was told originally that it was because of my ka radiator, and to install dual fans. I did. I also installed a new water pump.

My gauge still reads high.

I used a lazer temp gauge on ahot day and read read 140deg on inlet to motor 200deg on outlet. Is this normal temp?

I was recently told that it was because of the diferent voltages being sent to s14 gauge from s13 ecu.

I will be getting an autometer temp gauge as soon as work picks up . So I still would at least like to know normal operating temp.

And yes I did search before I posted this.

Thanks

Have you changed out your thermostat? I forgot the running temps, but I think they are 180-190F or 83-90C.

I'd recommend an aftermarketl water temp gauge be installed so it can be monitored at all times for one...

Both me and a freind are putting in sr's along with temp gauges, where do you put the probe sensor for the gauge. Been trying to figure this out...............thanks ahead of time.

Upper radiator hose is a prime location. Blitz sells a silicone hose with a hole already to go for a sensor... http://www.blitz-na.com/Radiator_Hose.htm

thats what i use...if your going with an aftermarket sensor, thast your best bet imo....otherwise you're gonna be drilling a whole in your block...which always risks the chance of getting messy.

Hey where is the factory water temp sensor? I heard somewhere else that like a older US SR20DE (Sentra SE-R) temp sensor could be used and will work with factory gauge- is this true? Does anyone know what year SE-R sensor works?

Take the Temp Sensor out of you KA motor and put it in your SR20, all you temp woes shouldbe solved. The Sr20DET temp gauge is calibrated different than the S14 Gauge cluster. The factory temp sensor on the SR20 is near the TPS sensor. Use a 12mm deep socket to remove the sensor.
