hey z fans i have a problem with my z for around a year and a half now, i used the search function and found no useful info relevant to my problem- forgive me if i missed it somewhere. my temp gauge shows that it is warm at all times, by warm i mean half way through its given range. it does not matter how long it sits untouched, if its overnight or longer. it has done this since before i replaced my egi harness and both sensors on the front of the car. the gauge shows the same plugged or un-plugged. the using a test light on the single wire causes the light to light dimly but shows to have eleven volts or so voming to the sensor. the sensor shows to have a varying resistance to ground at different temps so i figure it to still be good 9correct me if i am wrong plz).

my only guess is that the computer has messed up inside since all harness wires run to it, or the gauge is messed up somehow.

anyone else seen this before? any ideas?

the sensor i am messing with is the single pole, the other i believe is the sensor for the computer. the only way i know the temp is to hook up my laptop to the car's computer and watch it that way, trying to get this fixed before we head off to florida in her in a couple weeks.

sounds like it's working so next is the gauge, the 2 wire sensor goes to the ecu, the 1 wire sender goes just to the gauge, and the 1 wire sender is the 1 you tested right?

the wire harness has additional legs on the inside where the sender wire routes to the cluster and not to the ecu, the ecu reads tem through the 2 wire sensor

found the problem, turns out there is a couple studs with a coupld small nuts and washers on them on the back of the gauge. the nut and washer had fallen off of one of the studs so it was not making contact with the board, replaced the nut and after testing the gauge appears to be back to normal.
