Temp gauge not working

Hello.
Just bought an 86 and driving it home, I noticed the temp gauge was no working.
Can anyone tell me on where the sensor is, and how I can check before I go replacing things that don't need replacing?

Sensor will be on the passenger side, just behind the upper engine water-neck. Should be a single-wire sending unit.

Thanks, any way to check the gauge with that single wire?

Wire may simply be unplugged. That's the easiest fix. Otherwise, you're best off pulling the gauge cluster and using a multi-meter to test the gauge connections.
