umm.. as of lately my temperature gauge has been acting funny. i will let the car warm up to normal temp. then go driving. while driving the temperature gauge (sometimes) not a lot will start fluxating it might go all the way down to the bottom then right back to normal. always going to the cooler side. it will only do it for about 1 second and the it will go back to normal operating temp. any ideas on why this might be happening? thermostat going out?

I would bet that you have in your heating system. Bleed the cooling system and it should go away. If it dosnt, they look into thermostat, and or actuall temp gauge. But most likely its trapped air in the system.
