So I bought a temp gauge I specifically told the guy if it was for a 1990 z32 because from what I’ve seen the clusters are different in the later models but he sent me the wrong piece. Is there any way to make the later model temp gauge fit or do I have to keep looking? It’s been a very slow process in fixing this since I’ve been waiting on the person to buy the gauge from and then once he finally was able to send it he sent he wrong one. First pic is the original temp gauge. A response would be very appreciated thanks in advance!

If able i would look to see if the same voltages read the same temp. If 5 volts on on is max vs maybe 12 on the other you could could pin the gauge. if all if good then maybe pull the needle and plate of the original and put the plate on the new one so the alignment pins all line up. or drill holes on the new one to mach the old.

Ok thanks! My original gauge isn't working it goes crazy it'll read above hot after just turning on the car then it'll stop working all of a sudden. So is it possible to still do that check?

I personally would hunt down the correct part, this isn't an area I'd do any jury-rigging or other modifications. The classifieds generally have parting-out cars listed, I'd work from classi's to find my part or also consider used parts from Z1 in this case.

Yeah that’s what I’m going to do I’m not really too adept with this part of the car. So I don’t want to mess with things to much because if not I’ll break it. Thinking about buying a full gauge cluster.

Then break it first THEN buy the cluster................you'll at least learn how hard it can be to pull needles. Or not, as the case may be.

Good choice. I MAY have one for you from my '89/'90NA, just haven't decided to part with it yet. Has the chrome gauge rings installed, plastic cover is in pretty good shape...let me know if you are interested.
