I had some smoke coming from the steering column. I decide to take the bottom of the dash board and found that the tape that was holding the wire had melted. The person that wired my fan did not do a good job. So I need to do this myself. I need to know what wire is what.

That's not a good idea. Puts more load on the alternator which puts causes more parasitic drag on the engine. Just get one of those $30 thermostat fan control kits at Advance Auto Parts.

Fix the basement door then

I seem to recall someone implied you're not in the US? US models have a thermoswitch you can use to switch the fans on/off (but its set for 198*F on, 188*F off, bit hot for my tastes), you'll want to use that to drive a relay for the fans tho.. maybe a relay per fan (cheap "40 amp" autozone relays can't handle the draw from both my "25 amp combined" fans.. keep blowin the relays, running just one works fine tho)
