Tein Tension rods, brackets what for?

Alright for those of you who have Tein tension rods. These rods have brackets for 2 bolts, does anyone know what they are for? I installed mine about 5 month ago, but still did not figure out what they are for. Also yesturday I lifted my car and noticed that those brackets are now bent. Im assuming from bottoming out or pot holes. Help?!?!?!?

i'm not sure what they are used for either...but you should adjust it so that they aren't facing down, but more or less horizontal w/ the car.

i dont know, those arent on the ones on my s13...do the stock tension rods have them?

no the stock tension rods dont have them, Tanabe doesnt have them, although I JIC Magic and URAs have them, no freagging idea what they're for.

hmmm, i have a bunch of ideas of wat they may be used for but im not sure. maybe for mounting brake ducting? ...hmmm...

I think dan's right... nismo has a brake ducting kit that mounts to stock tension rods... so those brackets might be to attach the duct since the original brackets are probably too big for the aftermarket tension rod.
