hey guys i was wondering if anyone is running tein type flex for drift/daily use or would recommend it for drift/daily use or would you suggest going with a different suspension set-up for a noob (me) or do u think some tokico and eibach springs are way enough for weekend drift and daily driven like hell??? any info would be greatly appreciated thanks for your time

i sold my "type flex" to my friend mike and he said they were'nt "stiff enough".....but, i think it's all down to how much you got to spend and Ultimitly personal preference.(if you any prior knowledge of..)

i do just fine with my tokico's kit(strut's/spring's) i orderd from "option auto salon".

You can get stiffer coilovers and still be able to daily drive the car if thats what you want. But flex will work, definatly not the best, but they are pretty nice.

Flex are pretty soft

Either Get HE or Super Drift if you are going to stay tein.

the thing is i dont really know what to go with because my max is going to be like 1300 probably and i dont know what to go with cause if i go with a coilover set-up that means i wont be able to get anything else for a little while but if i get kyb and some springs or tokico's then i can also buy some rucas or t/c's or whatever... thanks for the input greatly appreciated

if you go with springs only, you wont need ruca because your camber wont be really bad. Tein HE can still be had for around 1200 i think, just look around. If you need t/c bushings, and most s chassis do, just get the energy suspension bushings. Mine are very nice.

I have some pretty soft coilovers, there are other things you can do to stiffen up the car, like sway bars or solid suspension links, try to ride in other people's cars with different coilovers, maybe you will like the really stiff springs, or maybe you will like a softer coilover, its pretty important if its your daily since you will spend most of your time doing that compared to drifting.

I run Tien Flex with EDFC. It's my daily driver and I go to the track about once a month. The car is on 15's and its a super smooth ride.

i have tein HE's on my s13 hatch and its not too stuff for the street. It was really stiff when i first put them on because they are shipped on the stiffest setting but i just turned them down. I love them. I still have 60 series tires so it could handle a lot better if i had better tires. Oh yeah, mine cost me 1160. I've been spoiled because of coilovers.

I switched from TEIN HE's to TEIN SUPER DRIFT. Seems like the SD's are softer.....

you guys gotta remember, if its "too soft" you can get higher rated springs for the coilovers. for cheap usually. i have a buddy who was running the standard 8 6 setup and changed it to 10 8 and made a big difference.

if its a street car i wouldnt go above 8 6 unless its a very high quality suspension like the DD's.

something around a grand KTS and Ksports are nice.

I'm running the Tein flex and I personally love them. My car is a daily driver with the occasional autocross. I was very happy with them at the autocross but if you are going to be learning to drift I would suggest something stiffer. I just leave my coilovers on the stiffest setting and it's stilll bareable on the crappy roads of chicago, since about 9 out of 10 roads are always under construction. Don't just go by the stiffness of the coilovers though, my car has gotten stiff as I've added other suspension parts as well, and after I put in the bushings (haven't decided on aluminum or urethane yet) i know it'll get harsher as well.

Thats basically what I did. HE's standard spring rate is 8-6, I switched to SuperDrifts which is 10-8. Supposed to be stiffer but its isnt. I had both setup 3/4 to stiffest w/ 0 preload.

The only problem with switching springs out is that unless you have a very high quality coilover, there is a good chance that you will demolish the valving. We have the Swift coilover raplacement springs and they are great, but if your valves are not up to the task you can run into problems.

very good point, i was always told on a higher performance shock the change of the spring 2k up or down wont bring the shock outside of its useable range or damage it.

id just revalve and play it safe, plus if youve already got 20k-30k miles on them anyways like me, your gonna haveto do it soon anyways, so why not get it done.
