hello, ill start by first letting all of you know i havent searched this forum, instead i have been reading recent posts about suspension systems and gettin my idears from them. on tha suggestion of exar kar on a specific question i asked i went to the tein home page to get some info. first off

i have a 1990 fastback5 speedmy uses right now are daily driver, very little streetmy future uses will be daily, very little street and track (drag)i dont really care for the street racing part, too many tickets involved so im not basing my suspension around that. i will sacrifice an ok amount of ride quality for the track but im not going to be 100% competitive at tha track, its more of a fun/brags rights thing (tha track)\

im not goin to put a hell of a lot of power (im aiming at only like 250 hp to the wheels) im goin to stick with my ka24e engine if that helps too

tha most important factor is where i live, i live in new hampshire. the area i live has alot of sudden dips and dives and turns but it also has frost heaves and pot holes and very very very uneven surfaces.

what i origionally was looking for was a setup for my car that is stiff for the track but not so stiff for the bumps around where i live. also i plan on like only 16" tires and i would like that "lowered" look but not from ground to chasis, from top of tire to wheel well _make tha gap smaller)

right now im using eiback pro kit springs with kyb agx's all around, i was goin to get sportlines but i was told it is more of a lowering spring and not a handling spring so i didnt go with them.

i came across tein super street damper and it SOUNDED like its what im looking for good price (o yea i dont really want to spend no more than 1500.00 for the set up) and decent adjustibility. what im lost on is stiffness, but im goin to look up on how to read the numbers correctly. what i want to ask is this:if u have used tein super street damper kit plz tell me car year body style (due to ridigness between coupe, fastback and convert) and what u use ur car for and ur opinion.

im not askin for any answers just opinions to make tha statment clear. thxif i have forgotten something or if u want to know something more just let me know and ill gladly tell u. also exar is very helpful and understanding, thank u again.

This is Nismo_Freak talkin here...

I have the Tein HA's on my S14. To be honest at first you will think they are hard as hell, but once you've driven around on them for a while they seem to soften up on ya. They are 16 way adjustable and there is a large adjustment threashold as far as stiffness goes. On the lowest setting they will ride like your AGX/Spring combo. On the hardest setting you will just skid everywhere and you'll think your in a covered wagon. On the better handling settings you will have a stiff ride that is easy to put up with.

However, on the roads you describe and from what I have seen in Boston and surrounding areas. I dont think you'll like how they ride. They can seriously cause nausea on certain roads, similar to a boat/plane dipping up and down. They also will make it alot easier to dent a wheel. But it's WELL worth the pain IMO. Once you go around a corner you will have a huge grin on your face. The grip is astonding with a good set of tires.

softest would be a eibach and GR-2 or similar.... the AGX is a fairly stiff valved damper, even at its lowest setting.-chet

they arent valved for racing purposes, and the spring rates are on the conservative side...-chet

I have a question: How much performance difference is there between AGXs/springs and a coilover system? I'm not interested in height adjust, 1.5" is enough for me.

Do the coilovers work ALOT ALOT better or what? I'm not sure if I want to spend the extra $400 to upgrade to coilovers instead of springs/AGX.

if you arent going to utilize the adjustability of a coilover(IE arent actively racing) then and AGX, koni yellow, or other adjustble damper with the spring you want for your purposes will be more than adequate in most situations.-chet
