So i recently just bought an original SE-R.
i wanna lower it but dont have to much to spend, im thinking of just getting some tein s.tech springs and putting them on the stock struts.? is this a good idea or is there a better way to do it without spending all kinds of money??

naturally, springs are going to be the cheapest route to lowering your car. many people talk about springs increasing the wear on your struts, which would in turn require you to replace them sooner than if they were with stock springs, but on average the wear doesn't really speed up that process THAT dramatically. your other option is to look at budget coilovers, but you'll be spending at least double what you'd be spending on springs.

do you know of any good budget coilovers??
i dont want some real cheap coilovers that are gonna be bouncing like crazy everytime i drive.
i got like a 600 dollar budget to spend on some sort of suspention.
really i just need to drop the front of the car, the rear sits good because i got my subs int there and theres no gap, i just hate the gap in the front between the tires and fenders.

The only coil overs near that price range are the megan racing ones where if you search around you can get for about 799. theiranman69 is running the megan system i believe if you want to ask him about it. Otherwise your best bet is springs in that price range.

I have a question on this subject..... :gotme

When I lowered my 06 M35Sport with the Tien S kit, the drop was great, however, I did NOT get the "Alignment Kit"control arms (at the same time) so I ate up a new pair of Nitto ENVO's in less than a month. I purchased the Pro-Kit (Control Arms) @ 500.00ish and was able to correct the front camber (the rear was not bad). all said and done the springs were about 350.00ish with

My new 2012 Altima Coupe 3.5 SR CVT is my 1st front wheel drive car in for ever :poke: (so forgive my ignorance please). I am wondering if I have to get control arms too, if so the cost of spring + Alignment Kit is only about 100.000 - 300.00 (if that) diff from the coil overs once you add the Front Camber Kit (entire control arms) and rear.

With that said I have seen "Pro alignment kits" which look like just a set of bolts ranging from 30.00 - 100.00+ (Very Fair) Are they all that is required the springs install to correct the camber back to factory specs? If so we are talking about less than half the cost of coils vary doable indeed!!! :bigthumb:

If I would have done a bit more research (here at NICO) I would have waited to install the springs or just got coils, in hind-sight I would have done coils for the overall adjustment factor.

I had an alignment done right after I installed my springs, haven't had any problems since. I need new tires soon though, too many burnouts lol :bigthumb:

You won't need control arms for fronts or rears. They don't even make aftermarket front arms for our fronts.
If you get coilovers and you drop your car pretty low then you might want to look into rear camber arms because you will have negative camber. Fronts should still be at 0 camber after max drop

PS you ate through your tires in a month because your toe was out of spec, not because of your camber.

Thanks for the reply, that was a very expensive mistake not getting the Control Arms on the M.

I just hit a curb with my new baby still less than 2k miles, it banged up one the front wheel something fierce, popped a qtr sized hole in the side wall, Rear tire pinched the side wall and caused a 3inch bubble, so it exceeded 500.00 so I called the insurance. I took the car in for alignment and they found the front tower was bent and needs replacing. Should be ready tomorrow.

I ended up grabbing some new Motegi 18's Mr281 of craigslist (for a steal) with some (seemingly) crappy tires (New) pz900 2xx\25\18's to hold me over for now.

Man the 25\18's make the 18's look like 15's... Anyways...

I will have a little cash left over so I can do the Tein S-Tech (like I had on my M35sport) or I can sell the three stock rims and two good tires I can go coil-overs.... I would like to have the Coils for the ability to adjust em.

I don't want to thread jack so I opened this:
