ok i just bought some new tein s.techs and i want to get them on asap because my car also needs alignment pretty bad...theres no point in alignment, then lowering, then having to align again.

the cheapest place i found to do this was a little repair shop which was asking $100 for all 4. I guess this is pretty cheap compared to the other quotes i got. I would do it myself but im pretty new with all this mechanical stuff. How hard is it to put on the springs? I know you need a spring compressor also, so i can probably get my hands on one of those. If theres anyone around the Los Angeles area that could help me id really appreciate it. I could probably be able to shoot you maybe $40-$50 dollars.

Spring compressor is a must. If you try taking off the stock spring on your struts, you'll find that the little nut holding the upper plate down will shoot off like a bullet. If you don't have something that'll take most of the energy from it (like a cardboard sheet against a wall at an angle for example with a face shield, gloves, and long sleeve shirts, should it richochet back and hit you) you'll be in for a world of hurt. Rent a spring compressor, have a few large sockets, a pipe, possibly a blow torch, and you shouldn't have too much of a problem.

Remember how the spring aligns with the perches. If they're going on stock struts, you'll probably blow them pretty soon too. You might want to invest in a set of shocks designed for lowering.

He's in CA, so probably won't have the corrosion problem like we have in the NE. Anyway, PB Blaster can be found at Autozone (they also loan out spring compressors) and is great for those tough bolts. It's also flammable, so careful with the heat.

I'd use a torch as a last resort.
