I was thinking of getting Tein Pillowball strut mounts for the front of my 1991 240sx with KYB struts. Do they improve handling and stability or just make noise and make the the ride worse? It seems to adjust the camber on the car the choice is either these and adjust them from the top or put slots in the struts to adjust them from the bottom. Has anyone done either or know of a better or different way to adjust the camber. I need to get another degree or so more negative camber on the left front. Is it better to adjust the alignment from the bottom with conventional struts or will adjusting at the top with a pillowball mount work as well? Any replies will be helpful.
Thanks

It can be done with camber plates, but a cheaper option might be to use eccentric bolts for the strut to spindle attachments. No need to slot the struts.

I called up Tein and they told me that the pillowball mounts will not work with struts on a 240sx, only with coil-overs. So, if you want to have the camber adjusted the only ways are hogging out the slots on the strut or getting a bolt kit that will allow for adjustment. Just thought I'd let you all know. I went for the bolt kit.

Well before you go off buying stuff you should figure out what are you looking to do with your car. Daily driver, auto X, drifting, rally X, circuit racing? There are different setups for different types of driving. Makes sense right? If your just looking to lower you car some and increase handling a bit, I would just do springs, struts, and camber plates. Camber plates ( http://www.frsport.com/Tein-PAN20-31PFR ... _1022.html ) will let you adjust your cars camber. You want this because if you decide to lower you car you will increase negative camber on the tire. Which is actually good for racing but bad for tire life, so if you have camber plates you can adjust you camber to 0 for daily driving and Negative for track use.

It seams like he already knows what direction he wants to go with the car, and the very link you just posted are the very mounts we were just talking about THAT DONT WORK WITH STRUTS! lol

Ah didn't see he specified the struts he was looking at. But the camber plates work very well. I have them on my car and I really like them.

The struts that I have are KYB. The tech guy at Tein just said that their pillowball mounts only are meant to be used with coil-overs on a 240sx. I didn't ask why and all that. I'd check with any manufacturer that will talk with me befrore buying and using something that didn't come on the car. The best words of wisdom that I ever got were "Don't Assume Anything."
