Hey, I just picked up an 90 240 Hatch and am thinking of tackling the suspension before anything else. I was wondering if anyone has the Tein HA Damper kit, and if so how is it? Or is there a better kit for the money or a cheaper kit of the same performance from someone else? This car will be a daily driver as well as a for fun/race kinda car.

I'd spend the extra and go with HE's if you can find them. They come with upper pillowball mounts already, where the HA's don't. HE's are very nice coilovers and not too rough for daily driving. I love them.

Aww crap. It says on the Tein site that the front wheel must have less than +38 offset, and the wheels I'm looking to buy have a +40 offset~

I plan on going with the HAs as well. The HEs are mainly for track. The spring rates are too stiff (8K front, 6K rear) for decent street use, if thats what youll be on most of the time. Be realistic. Do you REALLY want to go for a kidney jarring ride everytime you drive? Take into consideration the condition of your local streets as well. Sure the HEs are probably a better deal considering they come with PBMs, but HAs are still a cheaper package, the PBM arent NEEDED by any means, and is basically exactly what I am looking for in a coilover.

The HAs seem to be well rounded with a bit softer spring rate(6K front, 5K rear), still stiffer than all but the most dedicated race spring/strut setups, prolly the best street/track compromise out there.

Just MHO.

personally, i dont think 8/6 is too stiff for the street. but you have to ask yourself, where will i be driving fast? on some backroads that you like to cruise through on the weekends, or am i tuning my car for weekend autocross?

if you plan on putting your car to the limit on a bumpy surface, then the 8/6 will most likely be too stiff for you, not from a comfort point of view, but for safe and confident driving. if not, 8/6 does not give me a headache, it actually makes me want to drive a little slower than usual, which is never a bad thing =) the ride doesnt really hit bumps hard unless something bottoms out, but it does move you around in your seat. but ride comfort is an opinion, and i was expecting my coilovers to be much more stiff than they are.

having the adjustability of coilovers is great, or i would recomend a good spring/shock combo, however most coilovers you should be able to order with a custom spring rate or order softer springs afterwards.

I want to get into a weekend autocross thing, so I guess the HA'a are more practical for a street/race application~
