I have an S14 on which I have just installed the HAs and let me tell you that they are amazing. Easy install, great price for the quality, and great performance.

I'm not sure if they are being discontinued but they do have the new FLEX line out, which comes with a teflon coating on the coilover threads to protect from rust, have new valving and better design than the HA, come with upper pillow mounts for camber adjustment, and also give you the ability to install Tein's EDFC (electronic dampeing control unit), where you can adjust the 16 way stiffness from inside the car.

I'm not employed by Tein, even though it might seem so, but I've been so happy with their product and support that I'd recommend them to anybody.

here is the link with the specs/prices/part numershttp://www.tein.com/nissan.html

good luck

hope this helps

No they aren't, Tein has very good prices compared to other companies.

Can you order direct from Tein?

Teins are awsome... I use the HA's on both my cars and they are great for track days and still offer nice ride quality for daily driving.

take care,nils

sup guys, i just got my tein HAs for my S13 today! Paid $950 from a personal hookup! :D I was wondering how you adjust the dampers. I know how to, but it clicks about 23-24 times. I know that they are 16 way adjustable, but how do I know what adjustment I am at? In the instrutctions, it says from its hardest setting that it comes from the factory, click the fronts 10 clicks back and the rears 12 clicks back. After I do that, what level is it at?

I was talking to a local tuner garage and supposedly the mechanic said these dont last much longer than a year and a half. Im not sure why but since they are meant for drifting perhaps it is because they are run hard.

Just to clear up some Tein confusion here...1. The HA's are discontinued. They are being replaced w/ the SS. The HA's were never valved for the US, but the SS's will be. From what I understand, they are an updated HA.

2. The Flex is more of a 'show'/daily driver coilover. The HA/SS is more of an entry level track day/street coilover.

3. The RA is not a replacement...the RA is an entry level race coilover. It has a threaded shock body, so when you lower/raise the car, the strut travel is not effected. Also, it is all aluminum and very light and depending on which car it's for, they can come with an inverted strut design. They are also very harsh for street driving...the spring rates are very high. Lastly, they always come with pillowball strut tops, but are an option with the HA's.

4. Dampening adjustment is 16 ways on the Tein HA...not 24. Those last 8 clicks are only to be used when your strut is being serviced. If you drive around w/ them turned up that high, you will cause damage to your strut. This may cause them to leak oil and have to be rebuilt. Make sure you have don't have them in the wrong zone. If my memory serves me right, I believe they turn clockwise to raise the dampening and counter clockwise to lower the dampening. I have the RA's on my car, but I haven't adjusted them in a while.

Potentially, a very long time. They are, after all , rebuildable.:)

Common problems w/ Tein HA's are:1. Spring perches cracking! Check them out every few months for hairline cracks just to be sure.2. Rust. HA's are notorious for rusting.

Kind of an off question, but...

I have World Sport coilovers (apex). The rear struts are blown, and when I called tech support they didn't know s***. They said they do no rebuilding like that, and I should take it to a suspension shop...(i've never seen a suspension shop). I asked if there was a specific size strut i have to buy, and all they said was no. When I asked for more specifics they simply didn't know. Would a strut meant for my S14 (say a tokico, or kyb) fit into my WS's? Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks Dori Dori, but do the last 8 or so clicks that aren't supposed to be used when driving all the way counterclockwise(soft) or all the way clockwise(hard)?

just to hopefully clarify what I am saying:

Are they adjustable 16 clicks from its counterclockwise position(soft-1 being all the way counterclockwise) or from their clockwise position(hard-16 being all the way clockwise)?

This is making me very frustrated. I don't want to blow a shock the first day

You need to look at your installation manual. They have a diagram to show you which way to click...I can check also when I get home. If I remember right, its clockwise to full hard...so you would:

1. Turn the nob full counter clockwise for full soft (being in the 0 position).2. Turn the nob clockwise from that position to your desired stiffness level (6 clockwise clicks would make it 6/16 stiff)3. Anything past 16 clicks is for strut servicing.

I will double check this when I get home though. :)

I don't know if the Apexi WS coilovers are rebuildable or not, but I do know that the strut is not interchangeable! You need to get in touch with someone more knowledgeable over at Apexi! I'm sure there is someone there that can answer your question. Maybe the vendor you bought them from has an answer? BTW, how old are they?

*Here's a little shameless Tein plug that I should have mentioned. There are quite a few Japanese coilovers out there that can be rebuilt, but Tein's can be rebuilt in the USA! That is a great advantage. Yuo have a direct connection to the company...not some shady importer or vendor. The only other Japanese suspension company that does this (that I know of) is Jic...just a little food for thought.*

ok thanks, Dori Dori. I've read the manual over and over, but it is unclear of this. It just says that u should click the rears back 10 times and the fronts 12 times from clockwise position. Maybe yours is clearer or something. Thanks

ok, here is a question...

If these shocks are known to rust up, is there anything that can be put on them to prevent rust? Like maybe a spray can of magical anti rust pixie dust or soak em in vaseline? I am getting a set of these in a couple of weeks and I want to prevent rusting if at all possible.

however, I live in Texas where they don't salt the roads, so maybe they won't rust?

i live in california. we don't see salt roads either, so im not that worried. i think u can just spray them with wd-40 once every few weeks and u should be good.

I dunno, I would rather coat them with magical anti rust pixie dust, but if you say that WD does the trick, then it must...

How about that teflon crapsky that comes in a can that you spray on metal pieces on boats? That stuff ought to work too, huh?
