Hey Gang, Im getting a little ahead of myself here but had to share...When i was at SEMA last week i spoke to the guys at the TEIN booth. It seems there is a full coilover suspension available for the Y33 in Japan. They will check to see if its compatible with the 97+ Q45, All i have to do is measure the spindle daimeter and take some pics of the spindle assembly. See this setup replaces the entire front strut/hub assembly. So anyhow I didnt know if there was anyone really interested in this setup? Full retail price is around $2300(not cheap I know) for all 4 corners fully adjustable coilover suspension. I know from experience the TEIN stuff is some of the best riding, quietest, best designed stuff available.

Seeems like the JIC was only about $1800, but I would have to check. Might have been for the G50.

Wow, that would probably be reasonable if someone compared the price of new springs, shocks that were of anywhere near the performance of coilovers? What would the ride be like????

The problem with the 97+ Q Front is the oem [and aftermarket] coilover have no camber gain......unlike the 90-96 coil overs [with twisted/angled upper link].

So to improve handling [peak G in a turn] you are even more dependent on tires [sidewall stiffness]. Or springs and sway bars so stiff as to limit body movement.Doubling the spring/bar rate on a heavy Q will make for a much less comfortable car. Doubling the bar rate would ride better.

TEIN has some awesome camber plates that generally fit seemlessly with there coilovers. Im not sure if they offer them for the Q but I will find out. As for ride quality? Im sure it wont be as cushy or floaty...but if you want coilovers you gotta give somewhere:). Plus giving the fact that us 97+Q owners have NO choices for aftermarket struts/inserts this is a good option.

I agree, in a few more thousand I'd be interested. I agree, tire stiffness is huge. The Yoko ES100's made a huge difference in the handling of the car. What I want is something more than stock replacements when the suspension is worn out and this would be a player for sure.

Let us know when these are available.

Camber plates just fix static camber [correct for angle changes in lowering].......they cannot create a camber gain curve. Each type/design of tire will need a different curve to maintain tread flatness against the roading with varying loads and body/suspension angles.
