I can't make up my mind between these 2 sets of coilovers for my '97 240. From my understanding the only differences between them is spring rate, one doesn't have the teflow coating for rust protection, EDFC compatability, and the pillowball mounts look different.

Sooooooo what are the big differences between them to justify a $300 price increase?

it sort of depends on what you plan on doing with them. the HE's are a bit stiffer and made for drifting. the flex's are going to be a better ride for day to day driving, but they can also be used for drifting. the HE's are stiffer so you can feel the road better in drifting, now for day to day driving you prolly dont want to "feel the road" too much (wont be too comfortable) but then again they arent too much stiffer than the flex so its your call.

If you have the cash buy the flex, they're better. If you wanna save money, buy the HE. Flex is better for daily driver. Screw the EDFC >_>. Usually when things from the same company cost more, theres a reason.

Later down the line is it posible for me to change out my front springs for something with a higher spring rate. IIRC you can order custom spring rates from TEIN, right?

Also where is the cheapest and most reliable place to order them from? And are all TEIN pilowball mounts the same?

Yes, you can custom order springs from TEIN. But usually takes about 3-6 weeks if they don't have the specs you want in stock.

I got mine special ordered from http://www.gruppe-s.com .. $1150 shipped.
