I recently upgraded the td05-14b that I had to a td05-18g and I was wondering if I should be putting teflon tape on the oil feed. When I say oil feed I mean the flared fitting that actually threads into the turbo center section not the fitting on the block itself . I am almost positive I should but would like to be certain. Also throw in anything you guys think I should check or do before priming the car and driving it. Anyway thanks for reading and If any1 is interested it is still for sale $1100 shipped OBO. Any way I will throw on some pics aswell because I just know how much you guys love pics.

That looks like a 20G compressor housing. Weird.

I have never seen a good pic (like outside the engine bay) nor have I seen one in person so I'm not sure. The shop I went to gave me a very sweet deal on the upgrade. Either way cant complain and I think he would have charged me a lot more for a 20g housing.

No need for teflon tape on that fitting.

i used teflon tape and it didnt leak for awhile. after a week its starting to leak again. I reccomend getting that permatex high temperature thread sealant. The white one. I havent used it yet though, i'm too lazy to take out the manifold again =\

Ok I got the thread sealant like you recomended and put it on. Luckily I didnt have to pull the mani, so now I'm gonna let it sit for while and then crank her up and see what happens. Thanks

I use teflon on almost all line fittings, unless it's a compression fitting. I use the can of stuff (permatex I think) and it's always worked well for me. There's probably a special high temp one too that might be better for fittings on the turbo.

Permatex red is for high temp, blue is for fluid, and green is for compression fittings. Anyone tried teflon paste? I am reinstalling my turbo in the next few days, and I have teflon paste, teflon tape, and permatex green and red. I assume that the teflon paste is the way to go?

72hrs you say....well oops. Anyway put it on started it up and no leaks so far I will let sit until thursday, when I will be taking it to a shop (friend of mine) where hopefully he can give everything the once over. On a sidenote the wastegate is leaking, which I really expected since I could barely tighten all four of the bolts because of the location of the damn thing. I will hopefully have him put it on the car lift and let him go at it. If its just a bad wastegate can some1 let me know if the hks 4 bolt wastegate and the greddy (type-s?) 4 bolt wastegate are the same. To clearify can I bolt a hks wastegate to my wastegate flange? Thanks.

I was refering to the permatex teflon paste. That's what I've been using for quite awhile and it works well for me. That cure time seems outta whack, I don't think the teflon needs to cure, but I might be wrong.

ooh ok. Now i know why mine says high temp but isnt the red kind. I bought the Thread Sealant versus the thread lock. Shouldnt it be the same? From what it says in the back it says "seals tapered metal pipe threads and fittings against leaks, vibration and shock. Also rated at +400F max, which is their highest rated one.

Oil lines? Yeah and Ive got no complaints. Does any1 know if the 4 bolt hks wastegate will bolt up to the greddy flange.
