Lucy was a pretty decent car. She had a few imperfections, like a faded bumper, bent front fenders, cracked dash etc.
I immediately started with replacing the stock speakers with some Sony Xplods.
The car stayed stock for quite a while, considering I had a coupe to fix.
Which I started doing right away.
So, with the impact, the lower radiator support was pushed back quite a bit, which pushed back the tension rod bracket, which broke the bolts holding it to the chassis. That broke the threaded squares inside the frame rails.
So we cut out the frame rails and welded in some bolts as studs. It was the only thing we could do really.
I was still a little unsure what to do about my rad support. I could pull it out, or replace it. I chose to replace it, so I found a shell at a friend's house and cut off the whole front section. I brought it home and started cutting off pieces I wouldn't need and drilling out all the spot welds.
That was super annoying, so halfway through I gave up and decided to just pull it out.
Before that would start, I had a friend come over who knew a bit about wiring and he started hacking at my wire harness.
It sure took a lot out. All I had left was taillight stuff, ashtray light, cigarette lighter and that was it.
Then I picked up a DMAX hood, since my stock one was horribly useless.
I also picked up a new door, since my old one was dented at the bottom..
We pulled the frame with our custom frame puller: A tree, a 30 year-old ratchet strap, an S13 seatbelt, and a ComeAlong. It worked miracles. Actually, it worked too good, because the tension rod bracket no longer bolted up, for the opposite reason. We pulled the damned frame too far.
Then I finally bought a roll cage. It came out of the red Risky Devil car that had the chromed decals and Graphite Stitch wheels.
Oh yeah and that digital climate controller.
I put that cage in by myself, and let me tell you, it's totally possible, but if you've got a friend around I'd highly recommend doing it with a bit of help.
Then I brought a little bit more money with me to D-MAX USA and picked up a Type II kit.
