what are you using to remove the headliner glue?

hell, post a lot of pics on the interior on it and what you want to do to the interior.

Well I gave it a shot with gasoline. it worked for about 2 seconds before I gave up. I moved on to adhesive remover and a sponge, but I'm thinking a more brittle sponge will do the trick. Now it just takes a lot of time and elbow grease.

Would you have any other suggestions?

Here's a quick pic of the glue

I didn't get it with a headliner. there is no interior except for the front carpeting, dash, seats, and floor mats.

I got the engine in the car, and it was built by a buddy of mine.

Very nice car! I like it a ton.

For the adhesive removal, use a heat gun soften and loosen it up and then some PB Blaster DSR (decal, sticker, adhesive revmover) spray to get it off. Its beyond time consuming, but will be worth it.

totally...I haven't used the PB stuff...if it's anything like the penetrating oil however it's surely top notch.

I enjoy 3M adhesive cleaner...it's quality stuff...and free at the shop

Thanks for the advice guy. That stuff has really hardened since the 38 years or so that its been on there, and on the wheel wells it seems nearly impossible to remove (although I know that nothing is impossible of course).

I'll see if I can get my hands on a heat gun, but this stuff isn't anything like tar....

You know my friend actually has a pair of Z seats that we were going to put in there, but I realized that I'd rather run some real carbon fiber buckets in there because ultimately, this will be more of a Time Attack/road racing car.

I plan on painting one day, I'm unsure of what color though. I was thinking white or hyper silver or something along those lines, but in all honesty, I dunno.

you'll probably have to saturate and let it soak for a few minutes for best results....how worried are you about the paint inside?

nevermind...you plan on repainting it...

have access to a small die grinder with a roloc pad arbor on it?

a scotchbrite roloc pad will wreck that glue super fast....just cover the seats with trashbags and anything else in the interior you don't want getting messy...the pad may throw sparks too, so be careful where you're throwing them.

Well I plan on picking up a more brittle pad, so its on my list of things to do. If I decide to make a day out of this, I'll probably pull everything out of the car (ie. seats, carpet, etc). Just gotta find a day where I have no plans...

I'm obviously not very worried about the paint as I'll be repainting it. lol
