Hi,

I have noticed from edmunds.com that there are 27 Techincal Service Bulletins for 2001 QX4. Are the dealers supposed to fix everything on the bulletins free of charge? or Is it just a service to warn the owners of a potential problem in a specific area of the vehicle?

Thanks for clarification.

Ok fiirst no you are confusing those with recalls. Technical service bulletins are intended for technician use. The reason everyone sees these is because of the information act passed a few years back. The information is to inform technicians of problems that have seen in some of the others and are to save the technician time in diagnosing a problem on the car. they only apply if the symptoms listed in the TSB are present and verifiable by the technician. If you take your car to a dealer and tell them you are experiancing problems and reffer to the bulliten in most cases unless the tech can verify the problem, you will most likely get turned away with no work done. That is nissans policy not the independant dealer. Trust me on this nissan has been a$$ raping techs lately and have no problem dening a claim. nissan over all isnt the problem its only one department in nissan thats the problem and thats their warrenty division. We see problems on other lines of cars and it is plain as day to us a repair in another TSB will fix it. But they tell us no because it is not listed in the applicable vehicle range. So we dont perform the work and the car sits untill the customer calls nissan consumer affairs and after about 2 or 3 weeks of back and forth between warrenty division and consumer affairs and the customer becomeing inferiorated warrenty finally approves it. And guess what the repair fixed the car. There is a long list of experiances we techs at the dealer have to deal with when it comes to nissans warrenty division. The worst thing we have a problem with is if nissan tech support tells us to do a repair to fix a customers car but before we can we have to get approval from warrenty division. I would say 75% of those circumstanses get denied by warrenty division. So the customers car sits until consumer affairs gets involved. So if you ever wonder why when you take your car in for warrenty and it takes forever to get it back. now you know why. So when the dealer denies you a repair its because of nissan corps policy cause we get payed by nissan to do the work if they decline then we have to decline.
