I have a 95 SE with 232k on it. Absolutely no real issues until now. It stopped charging. So I changed out the alternator and alternator belt. Still nothing, had the alternator load tested, which showed up fine. Still nothing. I just got a new battery, because my old one, a 750 CCA battery was showing over 1500ccas. (Cold Crank Amps) It was under warranty so w/e. I needed a charged battery to get home anyways. (Drove it from the mechanic's shop which is forever away from my house, and it died about 7/8 the way home.) The fuses have all been checked, the ground has been moved to a better place, the stereo is off, and nothing electrical has been running that wasn't necessary. So, is there anything else anybody knows to check? Or know why my battery when so low that it wouldn't turn my car over showed 11.7v and over 1500cca? Any help would be appreciated. My mechanic and I have been going back and forth with this for over 2 weeks and I really need my car back.

-I also tried taking the ground off the battery with the car running. It runs.... sort of... It won't rev very well and it idles v e r y low. Then it died. -My brother is on the way with an alternator checker and battery checker. It's one of those hand held snap-on things. Though it's got a new alternator and battery now... :-/

when you say all fuses have been checked, have you checked the alternator fuse in the underhood fuse block on the passenger side of the car behind the battery? and have you checked the wiring harness from the alt to the bat?

Yep, tested them all with a test light. Even tested from the ground to the positive on the alternator while the car was running and positive to ground on the alternator. Seems like the alternator is STILL bad. Damn rebuilders. Can't get it right.

Have you checked the dash light for the altinator? The charging circuit REQUIRES that light to be working or the voltage regulator will not turn on. If this bulb has burned out then you will not charge your battery.

Just to be clear, I am refering to the "Batt" light on the dash that is suposed to light up when you are running on battery.

(as far as I know this is true for both DOHC and SOHC)
