Steve, Poyzinous, etc

In the early 2003's there is NO transmission dipstick for the 5AT. According to the FSM there is a "special service tool".

I'm told that this is basically just a dipstick but it is not available for purchase and I don't want to keep going back and forth to the dealership to have them measure fluid level.

Can you take a picture of what the "special service tool" looks like and do a measurement for me so I can measure my own transmission fluid?

I had a local tech tell me it was a 24.5" long dipstick with the FULL mark at 23.5".

I just need to know where that measurement is from, whether its just the metal stick that is 24.5" or whether its 24.5" from the rubber piece to the end of the dipstick.

Oh hai,

I have no idea where my shops dipstick is (tells you how many people with 03Gs bring them in anymore) but 23.5 sounds fair. I use a dipstick from an 05. There is enough of a range where a few mm up or down isn't going to kill anything.

So, just getting a dipstick from a different year should suffice?

I've got a dipstick from a 2003 350Z 5AT that I'm picking up from the dealership tomorrow.

i'm just wondering if/where I should mark it?

How warm/hot do you want to measure the fluid when you want it between the |XXXXXXX| section?

The dipstick looks like this ( ^ HOT ^ |XXXXXXX| |||||||

2 notches with "HOT" written in between then the shaded area up above it.
