Tach reads a LOT high

So what's wrong with it? It just happened. It stays like that even when you remove the + battery cable.

The tach is probably bad, if it just stays there then its probably just flopping around...... Does it move when you hit bumps or hit the dash?

It does just flop around. I'm on my way to get a new one this morning. Hopefully that's what it is.
