I'm going to be running alot of propane in my up coming S14 project(almost done by the way) and was wondering what idea's you guys have for a problem of mine. Once I get the kit built, I'm gonna start selling them with my alky/water injection kits. My problem is a low level warning light for the propane tank. I have a float valve for the alky tank, but nothing for the propane yet.

It'll be a dual stage propane injection system, similer to IPO's single stage but better and cheaper.

So any idea's for a low pressure warning light?

Blast away with any idea's for options and crap to. Anything to help the initial install on my car go smoother will rock.

Before any of you negative propane guys post, I've done all the research and have used different subinjection chemicals for over 6 years. Propane is completely safe and works wonders.

what pressure does it run at? could you use a mechanical gauge or is that too dangerous?

he wants a light to come on when the tank is starting to get low, so he doesnt run out of propane and blow his engine... an electronic boost gauge with a warning feature would work, if you could get it to work in reverse. unless you minded the warning light being on all the time untill the pressure fell below the wanted level and the light went out, telling you to refill... ghetto, but it might work depending on what pressures the propane runs at. or am I just trying to adapt technology that shouldnt be use like this?

I want a remote light so I don't have propane running into the cockpit. I suppose I could use a elec gauge, but I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible.

What about a Hobbs switch? I know they make them for different pressures. Theres also multiple different pressure switches you could wire up to run just to a light, just depends on the pressure. My civilian job is at a Warehouse that distributes Kenworth and Peterbuilt truck parts, I know they have all kinds of pressure switches on those, with multiple lights. Maybe contact a parts center and see if they don't sell something you need.

could you use a hobbs switch to a light. I believe that propane injection is regulated down quilte low in pressure for injection into a motor. If you can use a $25 hobbs switch thats adjusted just below the injection pressure on the output side of the regulator that might work.

The line pressure will be from 75-100 psi depending on the tuning process. Thats the only reason the good old hobbs switch can't be used.

uh, no. He said he didn't want propane in the cockpit... and considering how all paintball gauges are mechanical, that wouldn't work.

It's very hard not using military lingo. After 12 years in the USAF I use words like corrosion instead of rust, cockpit instead of interior and I use words like briefing and intel alot.
