i have a 89 240 s13 sr20 swap and i have this problem and not sure what causes this. awhile driving to work about 30 minutes and let it running few minutes to cool the turbo down and so awhile I'm waiting i popped my hood and looking around my engine bay just to kill times. i decided to check my oil stick and so i did and it shows oil stick it was complete dry, no sign of oil. i was like is this normal? so i got scared after that and shut off the car and came back to check the oil stick and it show my oil is max. i'm confuse here and curious. my brother in law has a 240 also with the swap and he said that he check his oil stick awhile the car was running and it show oil. so i'm not to sure now. plus i don't want to drive my car anymore because it might cause of a engine lock or blown.

any suggestion that might be? i'm clueless and i figure that maybe few of you guys might come this point already and maybe can help me out. i'll leave this to you professional sr20 tuners. please help me out, and i'll appreciated.

alright, technically you should see oil on the dipstick whenever, but on a cold engine if your reading the dipstick correctly and its full, the oil is fine. Theres alof of oil passages in a motor and it may be just all the oil is in the head.

What's lubing the crank and bearings then? OP, get an oil pressure gauge.

The way you'll tell if your oil pump needs to be replaced is by getting an oil pressure gauge.
