So, car went to the dealer to have a new sun visor installed. After it came back, wife took the car, dialed me using my name. The car replies, saying 'dialing <name>', so it must have recognized the voice, and mapped it to an entry on the phone book. good so far.

But then it shows on the screen that it's dialing somebody else instead.

Has anybody seen this behavior before?

On a general note - is it possible to teach the system to recognize the voice better? I seem to remember that the 2012 Altima did have some function to 'train' it.

I think that this video shows you how to use the Voice Adaptation system to customize it to your voice:

(it's a video from Nissan)

Otherwise, search your manual for "Voice Adaptation". I know mine worked a lot better after going through it.

Hm, tried to follow these instructions, but nothing happened.

Question - do you have a Canadian or US 2014 Rogue? I seem to remember that the Canadian Rogue is configured slightly differently with regards to voice response than the US version.

Will try and find that article / page i read that stated this different config.

Also, my version of the manual does not have an entry for 'voice adaptation', only 'voice recognition system'.

Edit: looking at your profile, you have a 2011 Rogue? That could explain why the behavior is different. Although, the video does show a 2014 Rogue :-)

Ah, yes. Alternate Command Mode needs to be enabled. I think this is the difference between CA and US Rogues. Will follow up.

This doesn't work on my US 2014 Rogue. And there is no way I can see to enable the "alternate command" mode either.

Yeah, that's what I thought.

My google-fu is not strong on this one, but will follow up. Probably have to tell my wife to take the other car tomorrow so I can play with the Rogue...

I have a Canadian Rogue and I was not able to get it to work. The voice recognition is horrible. I used to have a Murano and that worked much better. I would be very interested if someone figures out how to access the alternate command mode.

Talked to Nissan through twitter today. Based on the VIN of my car, they are not able to verify if the system has this capability or not. I have to visit a dealer instead.

I pointed out that they are the ones posting a YouTube video about it, showing a 2014 Rogue, so they should at least know which cars support this...

Nissan seems to think that my car has the hold the unlock button to roll down the window functionality, but my dealer confirmed that no 2014 Rogue for sale in the US has this function. They tested multiple cars on their lot.

There is a huge disconnect between consumer affairs and reality. They are useless, IMO.
