TCU??

What exactly does the TCU all control?? cuz mine is burnt out and im wondering if it is the reason for all my problems....Dash lighting, HUD not working, wipers working intermittently, headlights not going down

headlights have their own timer unit next to tcu.

i ripped mine out and found the board having a burn mark in it...could this cause my speed not to work since i have HUD and its digital...so with no dash lighting no speed??

speedo is integral part of head-up display unit and hud is integral part of instrument cluster board so it is possible. It would take electrical engineer with speciific knowledge of the board electronics to answer this question.

it looks like the HUD control unit has 3 wires goin to it for illumination so im guessing it could be my problem...well find out when i put in a new TCU today

Put in a diff TCU out of a car from a junkyard and nothing changed....still the same problems...no dash lights, no wiper delay, no speedo......is there something else im missing??

That's disappointing. You might ask the online mechanic. At some point, you need to get multimeter and start testing things.

i have no radio in my car at the present time....but when some of the exposed wires touch eachother one thing will turn on....like my HUD will start working...or my dash lights...or my climate control lights....maybe theres an illumination wire taht needs to be grounded or something

That sounds right. I would find out all the wires that relate to the radio and label them and by process of elimination find the wires that relate to dash lights, etc. Wires hanging around is what kills most TCU's.

im going to try to get a better ground for the illumination wire for my radio and see what happens...right now its just hangin there along with all the other wires....Im pretty sure my TCU isnt shot cuz everything that does work, sometimes works...i just have to hit a big enough bump
