There was an update on the 1993 TCU. So get the later one. It is in the posts somewhere.

Any rear a bar will fit, but you will need brackets and links if one isn't in place now, and likely rubber.

THANKS BUT THAT DIDNT REALLY HELP. THE SEARCH DOESNT LET ME DO MORE THEN 1 SEARCH UNLESS ITS ABOUT 15 MINS APART.

NO ONE HAS THIS PROBLEM. EVEN AT MY HOUSE COMPUTER IT DOES THE SAME THING.

SO DOES ANYONE KNOW THE PART NUMBER/S THAT I WOULD NEED.

?? I'm somewhat confused, the threads Wes linked to have part numbers and other various information about the early trannies and TCU's. Is there something missing?

There were two TCUs for the 1993Q - which is the only one with the 90-93 geared transmission that came from the factory with 1st gear start. They factory unit ended in 60U20. The 60U75 was a counter-measure TCU that was installed to reduce torque convertor shock in vehicles built before 2/1993 (VINS ending in 250083 or before).

The TSB is ITB94-023The countermeasure part numbers for 1991 and 1992 models (2nd gear start) ended in 64U70 replacing 64U11 and 64U12 factory TCUs. Apparently this wasn't an issue on the 1990 transmissions.

I have never seen or heard of anyone finding or buying a 64U75 - so the 60U20 is what you will probably find out there in junk yard land...

Copied from a post in one of those threads ...

"The TCU you want is from a 1993 model year with part number 31036-64U20 or 64U75. Later 94-96 TCUs will work too, but the transmission in those cars are geared differently than the one in the 90-93. For best results having the matching ECU is a good plan... you tend to get better redline shifts..."

Hope that helps.

I just picked up a TCU (68U10) for my '92

Does this TCU have 1st gear start? This thread sounds like I need a 64U20or 64U75

Thank you

Well I installed the 68U10 and almosed fouled the drivers seat! 1st gear start really woke up my Q. I can't wipe the smile off of my face. Now I just have to train my foot to ride a little lighter. 1st gear goes to 3200 rpm now and when 2nd kicks in it jars you back.I haven't put it through it's paces yet, since my 3 year old was riding with me. He said "Daddy this is a hot wheels car!"

Anyone with the 64U20 or 75 care to comment where the shift points are?
