Ther are no NICO TCU. JWT quit making TCU, except maybe by special order if you have a lot of time.

Get the 1993 TCU. In the posts here, you will find two part numbers for it.

thanks for the help ill go to the local u pull it and grab one now. Now I thought though that the NICO ECU's took care of the 1st gear start. If it doesnt what excactly do these NICO ECU's do for my baby and are they worth getting in addition to a 93 TCU? Thanks guys this forum is great! you guys rock

The NICO ECU runs a little leaner with a little more advance above 2500 rpm.

Don't even bother until you have rehabilitated your engine to as new OEM specification.

Did not know about that factoid. Thanks.

I've still got my 94 that I haven't put in. I just can't be arsed..

I need to get a new switch from Radio Shack and install it. I bought it last year and it's still just hanging out in a drawer. I'm afraid to put it in...

I had my hands on a JWT TCU to evaluate. They had cut the "trans malfunction" warning output circuit and it had the EPROM changed. I would have liked to pull the code from the EPROM but it was a surface mount EPROM so I did not want to risk pulling it and damaging it. I tried it in my car but it didn't make a huge difference. I've been driving mine with the dropping resistor completely disconnected for a few months now. Every shift is very firm and solid, it even chirps the tires sometimes if I'm on it when it goes from 1st to 2nd. I'm sure it will wear it out faster but I love it and will just fix it when it goes. Might use that for my excuse to do the 5 speed swap...

As for the NICO ECU...sheesh! Just install that sucker, burn the bridges and don't look back! You'll love it. Normal driving you won't notice any difference, just when get on it and that's when you want it anyway. I don't understand why you are so afraid of it.

There was also one ending in 64U75 released as a countermeasure for t/c lockup shock - but I have never actually seen one. I suspect they weren't installed very often.

It's all in the link that Haitian King provided. The engine is totally stock. Major mods and tuning to the ECU. Added methanol injection. It's not back "by the muffler" it's in place of it...

Get in touch with Wes (Elwesso) for an ECU. You can either send him your donor one or he may have some to swap with you. If you have trouble reaching him shoot me an email and I'll get the ball rolling.
