So I noticed a while ago my "slip" light came on when I would get on on-ramps after I switched out the wheels on the Z. Now that I lowered it, the the traction control will engage when I'm just going straight down the expressway. It's so bad that it cuts power to the car and is dangerous b/c you have no gas. I always turn the TCS off every time I drive. The only reason I found out it did this was b/c I let my friend drive the car and he didn't turn the TCS off.

Has anyone ever has this problem? Should I try and get it fixed?

The wheels measure 19x8.5 +25 F and 19x10.5 +22R.

The tires are 235/35/19 F and 275/30/19 R

I believe ideal setup for Z would be

245/35/19 F275/35/19 R

your current setup is about 2-3mph below spec, which is not good.

So you think that alone would cause the TCS to go haywire?

The speed of the vehicle in that of itself is irrelevant. What is relevant is the difference in speeds of each set of wheels. Since the Z comes from the factory with staggered wheels/tires (particularly with respect to diameter), the front wheels see a higher RPM than the rear wheels for a given ground speed. The trick is that you have to match this difference within a certain range. As far as I can tell, the Z's are able to handle any of the OE configurations so there is some wiggle room, but to be safe, try and aim for tire size combos within the highest and lowest known ranges. The easiest way to do this is to divide the rear tire diameter by the front tire diameter (Usually listed on the manufacturer website or you can look up most tires on tirerack.com. It will give you a simple ratio to work with. So basically take known OE tire sizes for the Z and figure out this ratio. Then choose a tire size combination that falls within the lowest and highest ratios you found.

That said, there are a few other possibilities involving alignment that can have a slight effect on this, but chances are these would only cause an existing problem to be come worse or a set-up that is borderline within specs to trigger the VDC (which sounds like what may be happening in your case). Best bet is to aim for the middle of the road as far as the size ratio between front and rear to be sure these problems don't come up.

That kind of makes sense. I don't see how the fronts really matter at all since those are just spinning freely, and the rear it seems like it should just detect when there is slippage....

I didn't have the car very long before I switched out the rims. I can't remember if it did it when I had the stock wheels on the car or not. IF it did it before then I pretty much know it is problem that just got worse when I switched out the wheels.

It seems like it would be a problem more people would encounter b/c I don't think my set up is that much different than a lot of other peoples....
