Basically, my 1994 Q45, has had the infamous intermittent TCS & SLIP light problem...sometimes they come on, sometimes not...no ABS brake light on....and also my Check Engine light comes on & off...i'm getting ready to have a Diagnostics ran on the engine and the TCS, but i have some quick questions and would just like to hear your thoughts...i know there's info about this problem everywhere but i ask you this.....after i replaced the blue starter relays below the battery....the lights were off for a couple days, then came back on....but they stay off longer now, and sometimes all day, but manage to come back on...before the new relays, the lights would come on every other time i started it, so the problem got somewhat better.....WHY???!!! Also, call me crazy, but on cold mornings the lights come on quicker & as the day goes on & the car/weather get warmer the lights stay off longer....so weather plays a part in my problem???!!! Just trying to figure it all out, didn't know if any of those symptoms meant....A, B, or C....thanks for you help.

Hard to diagnose the CEL until the ECU codes are pulled. Why pay to have the diagnostics done? Got a 10mm wrench and a phillips screwdriver? Pull the ECU and leave it laying on the floorboard while you work through the issues. Once it's there pulling codes is easy and you can do it as often as you like for free.

The BRAKE light should also be coming on if it's an electrical/charging issue but what Brian's suggesting is easy enough to check with a voltmeter. The battery voltage at the posts should be 12v with the engine off and 14+v with the engine running.

Thanks for all the input....now the lights have been off for 3 days...and the check engine light was diagnosed as a 32 EGR system malfunction.....i'll tackle that this week....i guess i'll take the Q to Nissan and have them diagnose the TCS issue, but i'm going to wait and see if the lights come back on....the Alternator and battery are nearly brand new....

so it's been a year since i posted this, and the lights are back on....all i did was replace the relays when i originally posted this and the lights eventually went out...now a year later the lights are back, you think it's the relays again? Was it the relays in the first place? can i test the relays?

Yes you can, it involves a proper gauge wire and a automobile battery. See the service manual for the complete details but its easier to swap in spare relays to see if the problem goes away. At least one of those relays would bring up a Traction Control System (TCS) code. Drive the vehicle at 30 MPH (Set the cruise control on a level surface) and after a minute both the SLIP and TCS OFF lights will blink. Record the number of times they blinked and find the corresponding fault code in the service manual.
