Brake pads worn light came on. It took two days to get pads etc. In that time, TCS light and Slip light come on and stay on. They are not right when the car starts. I am looking to sell this car and see if someone may want it for parts. It is really good shape. May be the age of vehicle. Any ideas? Does the TCS need to be replaced? Thanks!

Hey there and Welcome to NICO!

If your brake light is on due to low fluid level it will set a code in the VDC system because the system will not operate correctly with a low fluid level. You may have to clear the codes after putting the new pads on and topping off the fluid( with new clean fluid from a freshly opened container).

What year Q are you trying to unload?

DOT3 or 4. Castrol makes a very good one in Syntec. ATE Blue if you want to spend more money.

Then there is always Castrol SRF at $80 per liter for the truly brake crazy people!

If both lights come on while driving, it could be something as easy as the blue relays under the battery. You'll need two of them. They're roughly $20 apiece.

Why not just truly diagnose the problem:

"Use this procedure to see what is causing your "SLIP" and "TCS OFF" lights to come on. The TCS control unit is located under the rear package shelf, in between the left rear speaker and the "box" that sits on the rear shelf. The aforementioned LED must be viewed from the trunk side, it is easiest to remove the divider."
