I had lowering springts installed on thursday. On Saturday the VDC off light came on in the dash and then the warning screen came up on the information screen along w/ the TCS warning screen. The VDC switch is no-responsive. The car handles badly so the warnings are correct. ANy ideas on the next step....are there sensors that have been effected by the new springs?

??????Mark

I tried to see if there was a way to do self-diagnosis but there isnt from what I cna tell.....

I would first trying taking it somewhere that has an OBDII code reader and see if they can pull the codes..... We can go from there...

How low did the springs lower your car? When I lowered mine using Tanabe DF210, I didn't have any problems at all and they have been in there for over 2 months. Did you have any problems during the disassembly of the struts? I followed the FSM and r/r according to the instructions.

Marksport,

I used Radial Tire Store in Sacramento. The were the highest reccomended shop on TIRE Racks list. ( I ordered the SWIFT Springs from Jason at Burtman. They weighed almost 4 lbs apiece and the stock spring were just a 8lbs) They have done lots of lowering springs.I had ordered KOMHOs 255/45/18 from TIRE RACK and had them installed there about 1 month ago. amount lowered:The fenderlip measurements to the ground were:before 28 7/8 front 27 7/16 rearafter 28 1/4 front 26 3/4 rear (day after install)now that the warning lights are on, the front is still the same but the rear is now 26 7/16 and the rear wheels are leaning in slightly.

THe first day I had the spring on there were no warning lights and I could tell the difference in the ride. IMO, I could feel more of the bumps. Since I did'nt get much lower, I was still undesided about the change. Also I run 39lbs in the tires ( I am on the freeway alot and the higher pressure seems to work better.) so when the warning lights came on and the systems went off line, I decided to re-evaluate the springs next week.

So back to your ? on the install....ran into the owner at Jamba juice on Sat and he said to come back on wed. His top mech is back from vacation and he like to have him in on it.So when you did the install, did you have to unhook any sensors?

ThanksMark

When I did the front, you have to remove the strut adjuster at the top, and it has to be realigned correctly when you put it back together. I followed the instructions on the FSM. As for the rear, I didn't have to touch the rear shock at all. There is a member either here or fresh alloy forum that had his shocks replaced under warranty. I would ask him what the reason/cause that his shocks went bad in the first place.

Mark, good to hear about being able to fix your problem. Originally, I was going to get a shop to do mine, but after looking at the FSM and talking to a friend of mine who has experience in working on high end cars including m3's and a new Maserati, we decided to tackle it ourselves.
