Ever since I got my 97 q45 the abs, traction control and slip lights were on. When I start the car, the lights don't turn off at all, not even for 20 seconds or so. They just stay there. I've tried bringing it to a shop to get it scanned but even the big scanners they have there wouldn't connect. I did notice another connector hidden under the dash behind a panel, can I connect a tool to that to scan it? Or is there any sequence that I can do that will show me the abs codes without a scanner? Winter's coming soon so I want it to be safe for the road when other people are driving it.

I'd say as long as you've got good tires and brakes you should be fine, just like the pre-ABS days.

However, I understand the urgency as I hate seeing dash lights. Do you by any chance have a Nissan or Infiniti dealership close to you? For a nominal fee, you could have a Consult diagnosis and results fairly quickly... with a multi-point inspection, and maybe carwash.

There is one near me, but are they going to do anything that hasn't already been done? The ABS unit itself needs to be checked as well as the TCS unit and all 4 sensors. You saying they'll do that?

From the first post I got the impression that noone has been able to pull the codes. Is that correct?

I believe the dealership will be able to pull these codes. If not, they can go through the troubleshooting sequences in the FSM (some of which require the consult tool to be used), but at the end of the day pinpoint what components need to be replaced.
All this a little faster and more certainly than going from shop to shop - that's the way I see it
