It is illegal to drive a car claiming that you have ABS to your insurance when in fact you don't.

Whether or not it is obnoxious is a personal problem.bullittandy wrote:

It is nevertheless true.
So many regular citizens are ignorant of their collective and individual legal liabilities (evidently even some Presidential nominees!) until they get depanstsed in a courtroom.
Also, I'd like you to try an experiment with your theory of truth trumping courtesy. The next time that your wife says "Do I look fat?" or "Is there anything you'd change abt me?" or something along those lines, tell her the truth and report back with results-kay?

I'm sorry, I wasn't talking about you as it would very discourteous to treat a brand new member rudely. I was talking to another member.rlars7 wrote:

Back to your problem, I had the same problem on my 97 and the ABS relay was at fault, easy $25 fix and takes about 5 minutes.
I don't think that the ABS relay interchanges with any other relays. The relay is mounted on the ABS ump in the engine bay on my 97 and I believe in the same place on the 98 is moved somewhere else on 99+.maxnix wrote:T-3 for expertise (where Byron is the Q45 tech, there are 3 of them)

For parts.
You can switch like colored relays around to help you diagnose your problem.
Did you mean relays-plural?rlars7 wrote:Replaced relays and problem persists.
Was told that it could have something to do with throttle body? Sound right?
Thanks for the help.

Relay is only about $25 and takes 5 minutes to replace so isolating it may be best served by replacing it.loystock wrote:Is there a quick way to isolate if it is the ABS Relay or one of the 4 wheel sensors? I did a scan but didn't find any fault code. I have an FSM but it goes thru a time-consuming process to diagnose the problem. I'm just trying to save time and money before I order parts from Joe of IOS.
Background: 97Q skidded on the icy Yosemite Park road @ 30 MPH and all 3 lights came on. Lights were reset after re-starting the car. Incident happened 3 weeks ago. I thoroughly cleaned the undercarriage and wheel wells immediately after the incident. Lights came back on yesterday. My son's car was parked behind on the driveway and I have to make a lot of tight turns to get out, after which the lights came on. Lights stayed on even after driving >20 MPH for >1 minute and re-starting the car.
