Got a quick question, hoping for some help.

Have a 1998 Q45 with about 116k. Brakes were services 50k ago and all parts serviced and replaced 10k ago as well.

ABS, TSC, and Slip lights all come on at the same time after car has been driven for about 10-20mins. When car is turned off and turned back on, lights repeat.

Nally Infiniti did brake job and said that everything looked good but could not fix light issue.

Have been meaning to get to T3 to have them give it the once over but noticed something different today.

When lights came on, car was at stop sign. Felt vibrations through brake pedal for about 5 seconds when lights came on, then stopped.

Never made this vibration before and car drove fine since.

Only thing I can notice is that when car is stopped, can smell a bit of brake being worn. Thought this may be because pads are so new but would like any insight.

Thanks in advance for all help, you guys are the man.

Just saw that this question has been addressed a number of times, sorry for the repeat.

Planning on taking to T3, any thoughts?

Will driving with these lights on cause any harm to car?

Is traction control still working even though light is on? Thanks.

ABS and TCS AKA Traction control will not function.

It is illegal to drive a car claiming that you have ABS to your insurance when in fact you don't.

But no no harm will be done to the vehicle as far as I know.

Also symptomatic of a failing alternator or battery, or very likely both.

Thanks for heads up.

Should I trust shop to diagnose?

Any thoughts on price to have both replaced?

Trust in T-3 where Byron is the Q45 tech.

Some of us use Optima RedTop, some the top Sears battery. Main thing is it meets OEM minimum specifications, and is fresh every 3 years or so, except for the aforementioned premium ones which will go another year or two longer.

By the way, it is

TCS = Traction Control System

It could be that your speed sensor has gone bad. It connects to the inside of the braking assembly. I just replaced mine this past Friday. All three lights were on at the same time.

Got it. Just got the car a few days ago and it is amazing aside from this minor issue.

Regarding T-3- which location does Byron work at? I have been to Smyrna to service my I-30 but never established a personal relationship.

Any thoughts on other T3 locations? (Roswell and Decatur?) Thanks.

It is likely the relay that is mounted on the ABS pump, $25 and 5 minutes if you're handy.

Just a lil' feedback-this kind of stuff is obnoxious when Tech says it-and he knows something about cars.

Whether or not it is obnoxious is a personal problem.

It is nevertheless true.

So many regular citizens are ignorant of their collective and individual legal liabilities (evidently even some Presidential nominees!) until they get depanstsed in a courtroom.

Just tryin' to keep the board friendly with some mild feedback to a new kid with brithces that are just a bit too big.

Also, I'd like you to try an experiment with your theory of truth trumping courtesy. The next time that your wife says "Do I look fat?" or "Is there anything you'd change abt me?" or something along those lines, tell her the truth and report back with results-kay?

Do it everyday!

I'm sorry, I wasn't talking about you as it would very discourteous to treat a brand new member rudely. I was talking to another member.

Back to your problem, I had the same problem on my 97 and the ABS relay was at fault, easy $25 fix and takes about 5 minutes.

No worries, thanks for the help.

Where can I find a replacement relay and other parts that may need to be replaced over the years? Mail order or is there a shop around Atlanta?

Appreciate all the help.

T-3 for expertise (where Byron is the Q45 tech, there are 3 of them)

http://www.infinitipartsusa.com

For parts.

You can switch like colored relays around to help you diagnose your problem.

I don't think that the ABS relay interchanges with any other relays. The relay is mounted on the ABS ump in the engine bay on my 97 and I believe in the same place on the 98 is moved somewhere else on 99+.

Is there a quick way to isolate if it is the ABS Relay or one of the 4 wheel sensors? I did a scan but didn't find any fault code. I have an FSM but it goes thru a time-consuming process to diagnose the problem. I'm just trying to save time and money before I order parts from Joe of IOS.

Background: 97Q skidded on the icy Yosemite Park road @ 30 MPH and all 3 lights came on. Lights were reset after re-starting the car. Incident happened 3 weeks ago. I thoroughly cleaned the undercarriage and wheel wells immediately after the incident. Lights came back on yesterday. My son's car was parked behind on the driveway and I have to make a lot of tight turns to get out, after which the lights came on. Lights stayed on even after driving >20 MPH for >1 minute and re-starting the car.

Can't you pull each wheel to check the sensor? Or are the two in the rear read by a drivelshaft sensor (3 channel setup)?

I presume since it has TCS, it is a 4 channel setup with sensors at each wheel.

Thanks, Brian. The car has sensor on each wheel. Will work on it this weekend. Any other suggestion is appreciated.

Replaced relays and problem persists.

Was told that it could have something to do with throttle body? Sound right?

Thanks for the help.

Did you test the alternator and battery?

If so, you might want to go the T-3 route for diagnosis.

TB should not beinvolved unless you played with some of TB devices on the front side, which is a no no.

Did you mean relays-plural?

On my 97 there is only one ABS relay and it is mounted to the ABS pump in the engine bay and it has three connectors on it-is this the one that you replaced? If so then only a dealer or T3 will be able to diagnose problem withour replacing really expensive parts.

Relay is only about $25 and takes 5 minutes to replace so isolating it may be best served by replacing it.
