Hi -

I did something to upset the karmic balance of the universe...

My 2004 G35x just turned over 80K - wife drove it and said transmission was "slipping" put it in the garage - later it would not start. I noticed the gear indicator on the dash (usually says P or D or gear number) is blank -

Another user and the Infiniti dealer both think this is likely the TCM - Transmission Control Module -

Are there specific error codes associated with a failure - I can borrow a code reader - what am I looking for as an error code?
Can the TCM vs Valve body (the other possible cause I was given) be diagnosed in my garage or am I facing an uncertain fate at the dealer?
If it is the TCM can I buy and install myself? Where is it in the car? How difficult is it to install? Does it need to be programmed? Where can I buy?

Thanks for any and all advice. Its only been dead for a day and I miss it already... :frown:

Jeff
