I have a 89 240SX, I had a diagnostic test done and it showed that the TCM is bad. I have found a used one but they need mine as a core.Where is the TCM located? Is it marked? What does it look like?

Transmission control module? Is it an automatic trans.?

The TCU (transmission control unit) should be located on the drivers side kick panel (little area of carpet in between the door and the firewall, right next to the speaker if the door is shut)

When you take that off, its a silver box...

I have checked behind the drivers side kick panel and no silver box. Up under the dash I found a little black box marked control assy and some numbers. This is about 2" x 3" x 1" is size. Could this be it?
