tc02, you wrote me off the board asking about this swap. Your profile indicates that you did not want to receive email for NICO. So, I am not sure you got my message.

The question is can a 90 trans bolt into a 94. The question was covered before but not conclusively. Wolfe seems to say that his trimode ecu is identical for the whole run, indicating you could do it.

tc02, my suggestion is that you look at the part number of your tcu (driver's kick panel, it should be easy to read by just removing the carpeted piece, which bolts on at the rear). Then we can resurrect this thread on the board and see what happened to AGM when he did the swap.

Alternatively we can give either JWT or Level 10 a call. In my experience they are both quite receptive to inquiries, and I can claim to be a customer of either.

I don't need to keep this unit. I just wanted to sell it to a NICO member, since I know it is a good trans and should help you improve your car without blowing your budget.

I also belive this could work.Plus teh nenefit of the numerically higher 1st + 2nd gear will make for better off-the line performance.

I just checked my profile. All of the options are on including "Enable Private Messaging?" and except for "Invisible Mode?". So I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say "Your profile indicates that you did not want to receive email for NICO" . Anyhow, I did receive your email at my personal email addr.

I'm considering my options on the transmission fix now. I've made a couple of posts in that regards to feel out NICO members on possibilities for rebuild/replacement - see http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....+swap) that it is still uncertain what the effects are of using anything except the oem model transmission in a Q45.

Actually, what I think I should surmise from from all of the discussions is that there can be complications swaping transmissions between 1st gen and 2nd gen Q45. Is that correct ?

tco2-

Glad you got my message. My comment related to a message I got from NICO when I first tried to send the message using a link they provided.

I understand your reluctance to do the swap without confirmation that it will work without further modifications. Still, I wish we knew the answer. Given the advantages of the shorter 1st and 2nd gears, this would be a free performance upgrade for anyone needing a transmission in a 94-96 Q.

If you can't purchase a used unit from a known party, then stick with the Nissan rebuild.
