If I were to swap out my stock VQ30 throttle body with say, a Q45 throttle body. Would I get any gains and if so does anyone have dyno graphs to back it up?

Hey, not sure if that would work. Are they even the same size?

I notice you're from Sheffield. Pretty cool. I'm in Westlake. Got any pics of your max?

I'm not sure if it'll work thats why I made a post asking the question. Welcome to NICO by the way. And here are some pics of mine.

And the entire NSR group is from the greater Cleveland area.

NSR is North Shore Racing. Just a home based performance shop that a friend of mine started up a few years ago. Check it out at http://www.northshoreracing.com All kinds of pics there of NSR z32's 300zx there. I think you'll be impressed.

There are some people that use the Pathfinder throttle body when switching to the 00-01 variable intake. I'm not sure what kind of gains are had.

The 70mm Pathy TB has a higher volume and many people make adapters for them to be able to fit. The VK45DE uses drive by wire so that wouldn't work on your maxima, but you could possibly make a VH41DE TB work since the older ones were cable driven...the benefits are unknown to me because I don't know the specs of either the VK or VH throttle bodies...

The VH uses a 90mm TB... I really dont see how adding a larger TB on a naturally aspirated, stockish car would provide much HP... Not sure how big the TB on the maxima is, but if your mating a 90mm TB to a 70mm hole, I dont really see the point? the air is still going through 70mm...

If your TB is smaller than the hole on the plenum itd be fine, or if you created a new plenum with a bigger opening to match the plenum, thatd be good too... not sure how much that would even do, but certainly would allow more possibilities...

90mm is excessive for a maxima, so you're correct in that it would make absoultely no difference considering the size of the plenum. However, iirc the pathy TB is closer to the size of the plenum than the stock TB on a DE-K, which in turn does make a difference. The difference is much less noticable on a Naturally aspirated car, or a car with a more restrictive plenum (ie: 4th gen USIM vs. 00vi, or modified VQ35 IM vs. stock) but typically, gains are seen on a modded NA engine...

The VQ30 uses a 60mm TB and the Pathfinder is a 70mm, correct? If the MAF tube for the Maxi is only 60mm then upgrading would not necessarily help unless you find a 70mm MAF that will work with the VQ30 ECU.

For the most part, unless you are going FI there really is no need (which is pretty much what has been said).
